Take, for example, her Regency- and Edwardian-inspired gold, silver and two-tone medals which are the mainstays of her collection, yet are also on trend with the 19th century military ready-to-wear and surplus of army regalia and colors that took the fall/winter 2016 runways by storm

“We are thrilled that there are military overtones in fall/winter fashions that create the perfect backdrop for a diversity of ways to wear our medals,” explains Higgins, “but we also are aware of the changeability of ready-to-wear and have created our collection to look effortlessly chic with everything from a classic worn denim jacket, a white shirt or a cashmere sweater.”

Higgins, who grew up on a ranch around horses explains “there are various styles of medals in high-karat gold, sterling silver and two-tone combinations that represent all types of equestrian and leisure sports as well as those won in battle by brave soldiers throughout history.”

Higgins is a proponent of layering one, two or three different styles of medals at a time in mixed colored gold and silver combinations or wearing a few different styles with other pendants in the collection in one chunky statement necklace. She also has shown them on ribbons wrapped around the wrist or dangling charm bracelets.

“We are in an age of personalization—of gathering and individualizing pieces that we can wear now and pass down to future generations. The medals in our collection can be hand monogrammed and inscribed on the back with names, dates, sayings that are significant or sentimental to the wearers of the pieces.”

Higgins has also collected a range of various antique pieces, which she renews with her own stamp of style. For example, her Liberty collection introduces dimple English 9K and 14K gold heart-shaped padlocks, which get a glamorous makeover with precious stones set into the keyholes of the locks.

“I try and design wardrobe staples—those go-to pieces for modern women with careers and complex lives. We have enough to think about without trying to decide what pieces of jewelry will work together when you are trying to get out of the house in the morning.” Whether you have your own fashion uniform or you have indulged in a military jacket this season—why not throw on a few Anabel Higgins medals and a signet ring and you will be able to brave the winter months in style.
