During the trade  (retailers and press only) shows during Jewelry’s version of Fashion Week in Las Vegas, designers, editors, publicists and antique dealers all personalize how they wear their own jewelry or the collections they represent. This is the third edition of this story in which we show you how the jewelry cognoscenti styled their pieces during showtime. It’s inspiring to see those who design and promote the jewelry and how they wear it themselves. Take some tips from their stacks and statement pieces and make the style your own.

Get Your Stacking and Layer Game On

The jewelry designers layer their necklaces with abandon. They don’t spend all morning thinking about what to wear with what. They mix metals, they wear chokers with elongated necklaces, range from delicate layers to more bold statement layers,  they add meaningful charms and medallions. The look is best when it’s truly effortless,  but we also are in awe of those who can graduate perfectly while unstudied.

 

When it comes to rings and bracelets, stacking has been going on for quite a while. The look amongst the jewelry obsessed is still to pile it on but to only choose one or two places on the body to wear multiples.  We are fans of those that can pull off more is more without overstating with their jewelry so it compliments and speaks to their personality rather than taking over so much that you are distracting by their jewels without noticing them.

Join The Ear Party

Earrings are still going strong in all lengths and styles. And if you have multiple piercings like some of these designers/publicists, you can continue to add, switch up and create a multitude of looks for your lobes. What’s more, if you lose one earring like I just did, you can wear the other in your second or third hole and it might even look better than the pair did. Long, linear and swingy or mismatched singles are the two biggest looks among those in the jewelry know.

 

 

Celebrate Your Streamlined Sense of Style

Not all jewelry aficionados love to be blinged out. Some of them take a more pared-down approach and it definitely works for their individual styles as well as highlighted the jewelry they are wearing. When you are wearing just a few key pieces they are not competing against other jewels for attention which means the spotlight shines on you.

But if we had one look to choose from that sums up the season and hits on all the key points we mentioned, we would hands down choose Meaghan Flynn co-founder and -co-owner of FFR (For Future Reference) for you to emulate in choosing the pieces that work for you. She might pile it on more than we usually suggest but she can pull it off with her chic style and a unique balancing act. If there is one thing we would suggest is flatter designer shoes in the future even though most people with who she comes in contact covet her extremely high heels. But we love her soulful jewelry looks and we would like to also save her soles.
