The Jewels of Ocean’s 8 We Haven’t Discussed Yet

Last night I finally got to see an advanced screening of Ocean’s 8. I remember watching the first trailer and noticing familiar jewelry on Cate Blanchett. At least one or two of the pieces were immediately recognizable as the genius artistry of the Istanbul based Sevan Bıçakçı.

And, while Rihanna and Mindy Kaling are definitely wearing some other jewelry in the film, Cate Blanchett was layered to the hilt in Sevan Bıçakçı’s one-of-a-kind pieces and iconic styles. I wanted to get an up close and personal view before writing about these jewels that Cate Blanchett wore in her role as Lou, a nightclub owner and Debby Ocean’s (Sandra Bullock’s) sidekick and right hand.

Around her neck were the designer’s signature padlocks, layered with his daggers. A dagger closure padlock on an ID-curb chain rounded three times and one of my personal favorites, a reverse carved moonstone intaglio in 24-karat gold with diamond accents among other pieces. But, these were those that stood out most.

All of the jewelry in this film played a major role, but Cate as Lou’s jewelry, along with her costumes by Burberry, gave the rock and roll edge which helped to clearly definite her character in the film.
