Independent and renowned fine jewelers collaborated with both emerging and leading fashion designers during the New York Fashion Week Spring 2017 runway shows. Earlier in the week, Bejeweled published an article on two leading woman designers of the 20th century, Suzanne Belperron and Carolina Herrera. The extraordinary Belperron vintage and new pieces (based on the visionary jeweler’s original designs) adorned Herrera’s elegant evening dresses and gowns.

In addition there was also a strong showing of trend worthy jewelry on the New York 2017 runways, from organic and futuristic chokers to oversized earrings. Many of the most inventive of these styles were the result of collaborations between independent jewelers and fashion designers.

Some of these collaborations included Page Novick , who worked on her fifth collaboration with Tibi. “We both thought the statement earring was still one of the most important trends going into spring/summer 2017,” says Novick. For this season, the ’45 Earring’ was inspired by a 45 record, melted and then molded into a flower.

Speaking of statement earrings, Jennifer Fisher’s large single hoops could be seen on the models at the Monse show and worked with almost ever outfit that glided down the runway.

Cult jewelry designer Pamela Love’s large yet lightweight ear cuffs  were designed specifically for Creatures of the Wind fashion show. The ear cuffs are organic in shape and patina. “”I have always connected with Chris and Shane’s work. They design one of my favorite brands. They came to me with this idea for oversized ear cuffs that mimic some of the patterns in the collection and I thought it was such an exciting new take. The earrings are very striking and editorial, yet totally wearable at the same time,” explains Pamela.
