Although  New York Fashion Week has just begun to kick off the international spring 2018 runway shows, certain directions in jewelry are clear. Here is how the trends are beginning to shape up on the catwalk and how we have begun to see them in the collections of forward thinking independent jewelry designers.

We will continue to update our coverage on Spring 2018 as the shows continue in London, Milan and Paris.

Spun Into Gold: Collars and chokers are refreshed in styles of tactile fabric like weaves in yellow gold.

The Long and Short of It: Dangling earrings in multiple graduated  lengths of gemstones with lots of swing and movement continue to be a must have earring style.

All In The Wrist– Textural yellow gold or two tone bracelets in flexible or cuff styles are perfect for any season.

Star Power: Whether it’s a homage to America and our flag or celestial motifs that twinkle in the evening sky– stars spangled blues continue to make a showing in fashion and fine jewelry

Orange Crush: Orange is the color of the moment.  It’s appearance on the runway and in the jewelry design studios challenges red for the new hue. In jewelry it shapes up in large juicy gemstones for rings and earrings.

Spiraling Downward: Sculptural earrings that are light weight and either textured or high polished are on the upswing,, with either an artsy bohemian or minimalistic feel.

Lux Leathers: Bracelets of buttery soft or thicker leathers that wrap once, twice or three times around the wrist and are popped by the use of diamonds or gemstones and  precious metals
