The 74th Golden Globes: Kicking off the red carpet jewelry season
Not much has changed since diamond jewels ruled the red carpet of the Academy Awards in 2016, or for that matter, when awards shows were first televised. They were once again out in all their sparkling glory on mega watt celebrities at the 74th Golden Globes. And, although we happily continue to see more jewelry in different categories and styles —we could use some more colored gemstones when the SAG awards and this year’s Oscar’s roll around. Did you hear me stylists of my favorite A-list actresses?
With that said, the Globes revealed trends that will provide inspiration for the upcoming year and directions that continue to influence both the red carpet and the real world. And, as the presentation that kicks off award season, it definitely rang in the New Year with one of my favorite looks-fingers full of rings on celebs such as Globe recipient Tracee Ellis Ross as well as Sarah Jessica Parker and Drew Barrymore.

Drew Barrymore in Harry Winston
Sarah Jessica Parker
In addition to the show of hands graced by jewelry, I was equally happy to see Nicole Kidman in a double strand Fred Leighton rivière necklace and Harry Winston hoop earrings on Kristen Bell. Just a few days before, bejeweledmag.com predicted that both of these classic jewelry staples would be trending in 2017 in different variations.

Some more of the trends/pieces at the Globes that will hopefully inspire you to think about the type of jewelry you will want to wear included:
Diamond Statement Necklaces-The best of which were antique or antique inspired such as Nicole Kidman’s above and…
-Emma Stone wearing an Edwardian/Belle Epoque Tiffany & Co.necklace
-Jessica Chastain wearing Piaget
– Priyanka Chopra in custom necklace by Lorraine Schwartz
All Styles of Diamond Earrings-From delicate drops to shimmering clips and ear climbers to swingy long earring with lots of movement and sparkle and of course Kristen Bell’s hoops:
-Natalie Portman in Tiffany & Co. drippy chandeliers
-Lily Collins in Harry Winston perfectly proportioned drops
Wide Flexible Bracelets or Cuffs- in all diamonds or set with breathtaking colored gemstones
-Natalie Portman in a 1910 Tiffany & Co. wide diamond Art Deco bracelet
-Amy Adams in a Cartier in a diamond bracelet with a cabochon set center stone
(These two actresses get my vote for best total jewelry style)
-Blake Lively in double emerald and diamond cuffs from Lorraine Schwartz, which brings us to the small but outstanding jewels in the category of colored gemstones.
-Mandy Moore also looked radiant in Neil Lane’s Kunzite and diamond earrings.
Special mention must go to Sienna Miller who rocked an ultra classic strands of pearls around her neck and her wrist and diamond close to the ear earrings from Tiffany & Co. with modernity, and youthful fresh elegance.
And to Jessica Biel’s torpedo style antique earrings from Neil Lane. There is nothing like a little yellow gold to liven up the Golden Globes or any awards show!
