Statement Necklaces, Colored Gemstone Earrings and Hair Jewels at the 89th Academy Awards

Three trends took home the award for Best Jewelry at the 89th Academy Awards. It comes as no surprise that necklaces, from chokers to collars to bibs, made the biggest statement of the evening. They began to make a comeback during last year’s Oscars and have been upstaging other jewelry categories at all of the major and minor red carpet awards since. Earrings continue to shine around the faces of our favorite style-setting actresses in a variety of looks. And, although ear climbers continue to steal some of the spotlight, pendant and swingy earrings with colored gems proved to be some of the prettiest looks and those that are sure to inspired jewelry designers in the months to come. The reigning look of the red carpet also took shape in new versions of tiaras, diadems and hair jewels.

Here are our picks for the best Oscar 2017 jewelry within these trends:

Chokers, collars and bib styles were Neck In Neck for the most popular looks to walk down the red carpet..

Queen For A Day is how the actresses must have felt who wore modern day tiaras, antique diamond headbands and floral hair jewels.

Ruth Negga appeared on the red carpet in her own version of red-a ruby tiara and earrings from Gemfields x Irene Neuwirth. It was a defining moment in Oscar jewelry. We also loved her ACLU blue ribbon pinned to her Valentino dress.

Although these were the major trends, at bejeweledmag.com, we love a magical surprise and these jewels by one of the most prolific designers of the 20th century deserve a special mention. We were awed by Scarlett Johansson’s arrival in Fred Leighton’s Belperron platinum and diamond Art Deco earrings, ring and mid-century three-row bracelets on each wrist.
